Former industry growth centre chief executive Miranda Taylor has joined Wind With Purpose, a renewable energy consultancy based in Perth.
Ms Taylor joins the consultancy just over a year after National Energy Resources Australia (NERA) closed its doors. She led the industry growth centre from its inception in 2016 until federal funding ended and has since worked as a consultant and advisor.
Prior to her leadership of NERA, Ms Taylor was the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association’s (now Australian Energy Producers) director for skills and environment, health, and safety.
On LinkedIn, Ms Taylor said she is excited to help “deliver renewable energy through innovation, collaboration, local participation, environmental standards and a strong commitment to open engagement”.
Advanced Navigation co-chief executive Xavier Orr has stepped down from the job to “focus on a family health matter”, he announced in an open letter.
Mr Orr will, however, remain on the board as a director and advisor to the company he founded with co-chief executive Chris Shaw 13 years ago “from a garage in Subiaco, Western Australia”.
“I am immensely proud of what Chris and I have achieved together and am confident in the company’s bright future ahead,” Mr Orr said.
After a year and a half in the role, Q-CTRL’s principal quantum control scientist Dave Kielpinski has moved to Octopod capital to be the head of quantitative research. Dr Kielpinski is a machine learning scientist and has collaborated with Q-CTRL staff over decades.
The first new managing director of Scyne Advisory, the public sector consultancy that was cleaved from PwC amid a tax leak scandal, is reportedly former Victorian public servant Jessica Lambous. She will advise on finance, risk and cybersecurity.

Economic think tank, the Superpower Institute has appointed Chris McMahen as its technical lead for green iron. He moves from his role as head of marketing at mining decarbonisation and waste reduction firm Binding Solutions.
Queensland’s first female auditor-general is Rachel Vagg, who leaves her role as a KPMG Australia partner leading a governance, risk and compliance advisory team.
Ms Vagg will begin her seven-year term on August 12. Before joining KPMG, she spent 21 years at the Queensland Audit Office, including three-and-a-half years as assistant auditor-general.
The New South Wales government’s Net Zero Commission, which will oversee monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on the state’s progress towards emissions reduction targets, has launched.
It is chaired by Dr Paul Grimes who is also deputy chair of the National Archives of Australia and a member of the federal emissions reduction assurance committee. He is joined by seven other commissioners.
At the federal Net Zero Economy Agency, Rachel Livingston and Travis Bover have both been appointed first assistant secretaries.
